The Millers Take Dana Point

After finally getting a full night's sleep, Saturday we awoke refreshed. We unpacked, hung around the apartment, and got some rest. After Ben's morning nap we headed to Dana Point. We took the hotel tram down to the beach and had a great lunch on the hotel's restaurant on the sand. It was too cold to actually do the beach, but it was nice to be outside.

Then we went back to the hotel and played in the hot tub (the pool was freezing, but the hot tub was broken so the water was just right).

After that Matt and I went back to Costa Mesa so Ben could nap and so we could get ready for his dedication at church that night.

Thus completes the Miller family sojourns at the close of May 2009. Thank you for traveling with us.

The Millers Take La Jolla

Friday morning commenced just as Thursday did: at 6:00 with a little monkey song. We did not attempt Starbucks this time. The morning was leisurely. We played in the room while the rest of the world woke up, went to breakfast, then let Ben nap while we watched the discovery channel. We then packed up, checked out, and headed to La Jolla for a little fun before going to Dana Point. We went to the children's beach to see the seals then went to Jose's and had a delicious lunch.

After that we went north to the St. Regis in Dana Point. This place was amazing. We hung out in the lobby and wandered the grounds while the room was being prepared, then we went to dinner.

Sadly, there was no room for Matt, Ben and I, so we went home. To be continued...

The Millers Take San Diego Day Two: Thursday at the Zoo

Thursday morning started at approximately 6:00am when Ben awoke and, to his glorious surprise, discovered that Mommy and Daddy were sleeping in the same room. So he sang for our love and attention. Matt went downstairs to Starbucks. He came back with my soy no foam latte exactly as seen below.

Thanks, Starbucks.

We played in our room while the rest of the family next door woke up and got ready. Then we headed to the zoo.

Don't I look pretty?

Ben and Grammie; Ben is trying out his new trick: waving.

It was Ben's first zoo experience, and, for the time that he was awake, he thoroughly enjoyed himself; particularly around the monkeys and the fishies.

Around 2:00 Matt and I headed back to the hotel with a sleepy and crabby monkey while Carl, Bev, and Megan stayed at the zoo for a little while. After a family nap, we went down to the pool.

Friday evening we went to dinner, wandered the mall, then headed back to our rooms. While Bev, Megan and Alex hit the hot tub, Carl, Matt and I watched the discovery channel. Once again, Matt and I hit the bed around 9:30. No judging.

This was at the zoo, but I really felt like it deserved its own special space. Look at that FACE!
