Ben starts randomly laughing at the dinner table for no reason.
Matt: What's so funny?
Ben (completely deadpan): I'm funny.
"I love this pillow pet. It's my favorite pillow pet. Pillow pet, I love you!"
And the winner...
"Look at all the queers!" (squares)

I Did Not Pee My Pants...Yet
Warning: Bodily Functions Content
Last week we had the jog-a-thon at school. I did not spend 48 hours making team shirts, and I did not pee my pants. Remarkable. My take-home memory this time around: when I said I'd be doing it with them, one of my students asked me, "Are pregnant people allowed to run?" I assured him that "pregnant people" can do whatever they want, and that I would be walking. For half of it. Because that's all my principal would allow me to do. But seriously, it had been a week and a half since I'd pooped (thanks, Zofran!) and that needed to change. I can't really put up pics because most are of my students. But here's one of my buddy Jana and I (and the peach!).

But here's one of my buddy Jana and I (and the peach!).
So other than walking for a half an hour and not peeing my pants, we've had a very eventful week. Well, a week whose ramifications will make March a very eventful month. I had my doctor's appointment to check on the Peach. I had to go off my meds for a couple of days and go on different meds so I could poo. Then I went back on my Zofran, although a lower dosage, which I will hopefully be weened from soon and be med free (and hopefully still be able to keep my lunch). In a couple of weeks, Matt has to go on a business trip to Kentucky. For two weeks. I could not hate this more. Oh wait, is that not lame enough? My mom is going on a (shorter) business trip to New York at the same time. Still not enough for you? Ben's babysitter got a new job. Fantastic for her. Really awful for us. I truly am excited for her--it's a great opportunity for her and her family. But it could not come at a worse time. Did I mention that she starts right when Matt leaves for Kentucky? So...to sum up: in two weeks my husband and mom and babysitter all leave at the same time. Oops--am I leaving out that this is the same week I have an all-day curriculum training conference, a BTSA meeting, and Open House?
I hate March and it hasn't even started.
We are taking steps to ensure that I do not lose my mind and go into pre-term labor on account of stress. We are buying a webcam so that Ben and I can talk to Matt every night, we're setting up meetings with potential babysitters, and Ben's current babysitter has graciously agreed to continue to watch Ben (and do her new job at the same time) while Matt is gone so that my sweet little boy's entire world does not fall apart all at once.
I am also taking offers of playdates for what will certainly be the longest two weeks of my life. Any takers?

Gone Fishing
I woke up at 4:30 this morning crazy congested, and at 5:30 I finally gave up and got out of bed, since sleep was obviously not going to return and my alarm was set to go off at 6. Now it's 6:16am and I have all kinds of time, so here I am.
I went in for my monthly check-up yesterday. My midwife is apparently very popular, so I spent an hour in the waiting room conquering Angry Birds and bemoaning the fact I took a half day from work for an appointment that ended up starting well after my school got out. Boo. At least I took down a good chunk of that stupid game. I had a good book with me, but for some reason any time I actually go somewhere prepared with a good book "just in case" I never feel like reading it. Next time I'll bring my knitting--that way at least I'll have something to occupy myself that is a little more productive than sling-shotting virtual birds at virtual pigs. Anyhow, I'd gained a lot of my lost weight back (thanks again, Zofran, for giving me an opportunity to pig the frick out for the last week), but I'm still not at my pre-pregnancy weight yet, though I should be soon (especially if I keep this nasty gorging habit up). Look, I'm just so excited to be able to eat that I take it a little far, that's all. Now that it's been over a week since my last vomit spree, I'll start eating normally again, I promise. Especially since the meds have some unpleasant side effects, which I will not publish here because I want you to still be my friend and fan. Now I have two new meds for that, so I have a little cocktail of pills. At the moment I'm off the Zofran temporarily until I get this side effect under control. *Fingers Crossed*. The good news: Peach seems to be doing just fine, all warm and snug and 16 1/2 weeks along. We're scheduled to see what colors Peach is destined to don in infancy in two weeks--so stay tuned. Also, I'm starting to show, and man did it sniper me. One day I'm really starting to wonder if I'm actually pregnant, the next I'm thinking it looks like I'm ready to give birth. Good grief. With Ben I never got very big...we'll see this time, particularly if this hot dog phase lasts any longer.
In other news, I still have the older one hanging around. Seriously, every time I think he could not possibly get any more fun, he does.
Ha...irony. He just woke up. At 6:27. Booooooo.
Now Vegitales is on, so I have a little more time. Speaking of Vegitales, Ben calls it "Vegetables." So cute. It has also inspired him to start eating more vegetables, which I think is a little messed up, but I'll take it. I also love the way he says Archibald Asparagus.
He's in another one of his lame phases where he wakes up no later than 6:30 every morning, no matter what time he goes to bed. Gross. I haven't done my hair in a couple of weeks, and he's watched a little more TV than normal. Whatever. Choose your battles. At least he's crazy cute.
On Monday I was off work, so we had a little date at the park. I actually remembered to bring his sand toys, which basically has never happened before. Usually we go to the park, he plays on the playground, then he gravitates towards the sand pit, because he's a boy and there's like a dirt magnet in his brain. So he goes to the sand and sifts it through his fingers, begging for a shovel, which I never have. But this time I came prepared and he shoveled his little heart out. Then he played on the playground. Then we went on a walk. With the sand toys. He insisted on dragging his mesh bag of sand toys around the entire park. Down the path, up the big hill, through the dirt and grass. It was pretty entertaining. At one point he saw some people fishing, and he suddenly needed to fish. So he found a branch and went "fishing," which unfortunately led to him dropping his branch into the lake, which was devastating. He talked about wanting to go fishing for the rest of the day. I'm sure if my dad is reading this he has already dropped everything to invest in fishing equipment for B, since this is basically the moment he's been waiting for his whole life.
I finally dragged him and his bag 'o sand toys to the car and we went to lunch with Nana. Nap time was ugly, and I don't want to talk about it. Then in the evening we went on a date with my friend and her daughter. This is the moment Ben's been waiting for his whole life. He is fully in love with her. She indulges him. Cutest thing ever. Together they tore apart Pottery Barn Kids, Corner Bakery, and the Disney Store. Fantastic.

Wild Animals
Now that I'm feeling better (have I said PRAISE GOD FOR ZOFRAN lately?!?!?), I am no longer content with laying around on the couch. Okay, let's be honest. I still want to do a lot of that. Let's not kid ourselves--I'm still pregnant and the mother of a two year old. But I don't want to lay on the couch all day. And since last weekend was beautiful and I was too weak to stand much less go to the beach, this weekend I wanted out. Yesterday it was rainy, and no matter how great I felt rainy days are for jammies and hot chocolate, and they don't happen very often in the Land of Eternal Sunshine. But today I was ready for Adventure, so I convinced Matt to go to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which we've never been to before. Yay for New Adventure!!! We liked it a lot. It wasn't crowded at all, the weather was a perfect blend of not too warm and not too cold, and the park itself is awesome. We can't wait to go back and explore it more.
I don't really have any funny stories, other than Ben suddenly deciding to inch his way along a log and pretend to be a lizard, complete with hissing noises. Also, he was a pill. But he's two, so instead of feeding him to the lions, which was a little too tempting, I stuck with him anyway.
