Suck-monia 2010

Update on our sick little monkey...

We went in for a check-up this morning with B's doctor, who, thankfully for us but probably sad for her, was working today. Yesterday his O2 level was 98 (normal). This morning it was 92 (not good, but not terrifying). Last week he weighed 25 lbs. 13oz. Yesterday he was 25 lbs. 6 oz. Today he was 24 lbs. 13 oz. Not good, but not terrifying. Because his levels were low and he wasn't doing any better (a little worse if you count the explosive diarrhea), so she had us go down for blood work and another chest x-ray. I was so very wrong yesterday when I thought that the chest x-ray was just about the saddest thing I've had to do with my kiddo. Sitting with him and getting three vials of blood out of his tiny arms, then having to put him in a horrifying tube-like contraption for four attempts at another chest x-ray definitely tops yesterday. And a d-bag named Frank almost got the crap beat out of him when he yelled at the tech and at us for being taken in for the x-ray before him.

His electrolytes and kidney functions came back low but not in the danger zone quite yet. We won't get the blood culture results back for a bit. So we were sent home with syringes (he won't drink, so to keep him hydrated we have to ninja sneak attack him with fluids) and amoxicillin. The doctor will call us in the morning to check in. We may need to go back for another pulse-ox to check his oxygen levels. But for now we're okay. Riding the line, but okay.

Please pray for our little monkey. He desperately needs to rehydrate and get some sleep so he can start getting better, and I'd really really rather he not have to have an IV or spend time in the PICU. In the meantime, this is what we will be doing:

Oh, Millers! This sounds so horrible. Give him kisses from us and know that you are in our prayers.
